A robot designed and built in Pittsburgh is about to make life a whole lot easier for Cranberry officials.
Field crews from RedZone Robotics of Lawrenceville will begin inspection work on a two-mile stretch of the main sewer line in Cranberry Township. The line runs from Rochester Road to the Brush Creek treatment plant. Crews will deploy Profiler, a tethered inspection robot, to perform a multi-sensor inspection (MSI) of the sewer line. This condition assessment will provide important information about its current state. Then, the compiled data will be used to inform future maintenance decisions by the town.
Multi-sensor inspection saves time and money
Ultimately, the project will save the town of Cranberry time and money. Crews will not be needed to manually inspect the pipes, instead Profiler will do the work. The use of this MSI equipment will also greatly decrease the time required to complete the inspection. In addition, using Profiler also means less disruption, such as traffic delays, for community residents and visitors.
