RedZone Robotics is proud to exhibit at Weftec Connect, a virtual event designed for water professionals.
Over the years, Weftec has brought together many individuals and leaders in the industry to further enhance, share, and commend infrastructure challenges and accomplishments. Even virtual, there’s always a way to collaborate! We look forward to those stopping by to learn how new technologies and services can aide their system management.
Get Involved.
As part of Weftec Connect’s online-presence, RedZone team members are looking forward to a number of technical sessions to learn best practices and new ideas.
A few we suggest:
Collection System Force Mains
Presented by Mark Courtney from Brown and Caldwell
This session includes large-scale micro tunneling for force mains, PCCP force main renewal using fusible PVC, and assessing risks of hydraulic transients and corrosion in ductile iron force mains.
Monday, Oct. 5 from 3:30pm-3:50pm
Smarts in Linear Asset Management
Presented by Jaime Alba from DC Water and Fred Edgecomb
This session focuses on linear assets such a sewers, pipelines, and data transmission cables. The topics covered include the assessment of risks and rehabilitation needs for sewers and drainage lines, using data for business intelligence, and a case study on the journey required to become a smart utility.
Monday, Oct 5 from 3:30pm-4:10pm
Collection Systems Top Model
Presented by Scott Belz, Program Manager for AECOM
Come learn how to make the next top model. This session will explore the advances in collection system modeling from calibration standards, to how much detail do we need to include, and the practical ways utilities are using models to make decisions.
Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 3:30pm-4:10pm
Inflow and Infiltration: Fighting the I/I
Presented by Tony Conn, City of Naperville, John Nelson, Visu-Sewer, Inc., and Patrick Stevens, ADS Environmental Services
Inflow and infiltration (I/I) cost municipalities and customers millions of dollars annually. This is more pronounced as time passes with aging infrastructure. There are a variety of chemical grouts and applications that can be brought to bear to fight I/I in both public and private collection system infrastructure.
Wednesday, October 7th
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Sewer System Condition Assessment: From CCTV and 3D Imaging to Drones
Presented by Jonathan Kunay from CDM Smith and Michel Wanna from Macon Water Authority
This session will detail resources and processes used to prioritize sewer pipes for investigation based upon criticality and consequence of failure weighted ranking. Expanding on the traditional and innovative investigation techniques, ranging from pan and tilt CCTV, 3D Imaging and Drone Technology will be presented in case studies that have spanned many years.
Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 1:00pm-1:40pm
We’ve been busy.
We’ve been around the country, but we thought we’d share just a little of what we have been up to.
Brevard County, FL
SOLO
Our field crews certainly aren’t complaining about spending the winter months in Florida! To date they have collected over 1.1 million linear ft of CCTV video. Utilizing the Solo autonomous crawler, operators are able to establish a rapid baseline assessment by inspecting many pipes at once. This unique setup has, on average, allowed them to surpass over 4k LF per day. The best part is that they never miss a defect thanks to the 360-degree video captured from Solo’s two pano-spheric lenses. RedZone looks forward to continuing inspections on the rest of Brevard’s pipelines and manholes this fall!
Fairfax County, VA
Profiler
RedZone field crews have spent the last few months assisting with NASSCO Level 1 MACP inspections for hundreds of manholes, ensuring proper defect coding and prioritization for rehabilitation planning. Additionally, Multi-Sensor Inspections (MSI) on large diameter trunks provided Fairfax with quantifiable information about the structural integrity of some of their most critical pipes. RedZone utilized the Profiler asset, a floating platform capable of long-distance deployments, which collects CCTV, Sonar, and Laser measurements.
Los Angeles, CA
Responder
Our Responder robotic crawlers continue to stay busy with LASAN and their large diameter interceptor programs. The Responder uses multi-sensor technologies, a combination of CCTV, sonar, and 3D LiDAR. The data collected has been invaluable in determining structural integrity and prioritizing rehab projects. This includes producing point cloud models, bend radius analysis, and virtual mandrel testing. RedZone is proud to be a trusted partner for Los Angeles and their consulting engineers at Brown and Caldwell!
Meet our team.
If you heard about us in a technical session, stopped by our page, or chatted with a member of our team, feel free to share what you’ve learned! This industry thrives on sharing stories, and we want to hear yours!
