In partnership with RedZone Robotics, Arlington, TX has launched their three year, large diameter pipe inspection project. Using SuperMD Profiler, Arlington will gather data to aid in planning repairs and maintenance to 48 miles of sewer lines. Profiler can traverse through assets that most conventional crawlers cannot. Profiler also collects a robust set of data even in the most difficult environments. Arlington Water Utilities Director, Buzz Pishkur explained how that data will be used,
“This data will help the City predict potential problems and make pre-emptive repairs at a lower cost and less impact to residents than waiting for a catastrophic failure.”
The data gathered will help the city decrease spending over time by identifying specific issues within the sewer system that require immediate attention. This method is far more cost effective than repairing complete sections of sewer line that may need repaired or replaced. This is the basic premise of RedZone’s inspect-to-clean method, in comparison to traditional clean-to-inspect methods which can be far more costly and time consuming.
